Noel Alejandro
Exclusive interview with Noel Alejandro filmmaker.
Where are you from?
I was born and grew up in Barcelona. I moved to Brussels a year an a half ago.
Could you tell us a bit about your background? Family, childhood, how you get interested to make erotic movies?
I have three sisters and my parents got divorced when I was 7. My parents always transmitted me humility and responsibility values. Since always I felt a strong connection with cinema and music and my interest with erotic movies came after I started to work with Erika Lust 5-6 years ago.
What makes you do short films but don’t make feature length movies?
It’s a about the business model I learnt. I finance all my productions and this makes me have to follow some business structure. Today producing shortfilms it is the best way to take economic profit from my work. Feature length films comes more from the past when people used to rent tapes or dvds from the store. Today the online model reigns.
What is your working process and how do you choose the people to work with?
First I look for a nice location to film. I like to film in big and full of light houses. Then normally I look for the proper actors for the space that I have, today I have a nice list of people interested in work with me but if I don’t have any I surf a lot on Twitter, which is the best way to contact with adult industry actors. After this I arrange a shooting day with the crew and that’s all.
What’s the biggest challenge of shooting an independent erotic film in 2017?
The storyline. The connection you have with what you are doing. To talk clearly about your characters, and to make those actors to make a nice and expressive performing. Let’s not forget that in the end they are not professional dramatic actors.
Do you have a dream collaborator?
My only dream is make better and better films. That means that I will be investing and more crew and everything that would made possible to make a good film.
What are you working on next?
I’m in Berlin and I just filmed a beautiful story with my beloved Pierre Emo and Bishop Black. Im planning to spend the next month immersed on the postproduction.
Everyone needs time out. What do you do in your own time?
Everyone needs time out. What do you do in your own time?
Spending time with my friends of course. Since my favourite thing to do (filming) became my main part of the day I can do what I want the rest of the time.
